Booheads Bamboo Toothbrush Heads Review [UPDATED 2025] – Swapping your plastic electric toothbrush head for a more eco-friendly version can help you to reduce your plastic waste. In my booheads review I will look at their bamboo electric toothbrush heads.
If you have an electric toothbrush, you might dislike the fact that you have to throw away so many brush heads.
I’m the same. So I decided to look for more eco-friendly alternatives that would be kinder to the planet without compromising on the health of my teeth.
In my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review I will look carefully at their brush heads to see if they deliver what they promise.
Why I Chose Booheads
If you have read any of my other articles, you will know that I advocate buying from businesses based in your own country. Because this is much better for the environment than buying from a company on the other side of the world.
Booheads is a UK-based company that wants to create more sustainable electric toothbrush heads.
They have recognised that traditional oral care products have a huge impact on our planet. And they want to be part of the solution rather than the problem.
That’s why they have decided to create electric toothbrush heads made of bamboo, rather than plastic. I love small companies that take it on themselves to find a solution to the problems our societies face.
Helping The Planet Beyond Their Products
And they go further than just making more eco-friendly electric toothbrush heads. They also participate in programmes that will help save our planet.
Partnering with Ecologi, they plant a tree for every order they get on their website. They only use FSC-certified suppliers to ensure they don’t contribute to deforestation.
Booheads are also a member of the Evironmental Social Governance Mark, a group that pledges to develop responsible businesses.
Finally, they support the less plastic movement, a non-profit organisation that aims at reducing the amount of plastic in our oceans. This is great, because it shows that this company is serious about wanting to make a difference.

In-Depth Booheads Review Of Their Bamboo Toothbrush Heads
I’m writing this review because I want to help you decide if this might be the eco-friendly toothbrush head for you.
That’s why I look at various criteria that will make it easier for you to make an informed decision. These include value for money, sustainability and results.
Convenience: Order Process And Delivery
Let’s start my booheads review with convenience. How easy is it to get hold of these bamboo electric toothbrush heads?
I don’t know about you, but I used to buy my traditional brush heads in the supermarket when I bought our food.
Although booheads toothbrush heads are not yet available in any of the supermarkets, you can buy them on Amazon UK, where they have their own booheads store.
Subscribe And Save Money
And we all know how convenient that can be. You can also subscribe for repeat deliveries and save money. That means you don’t even have to worry about ordering them; they will just arrive when you need them.
You can schedule deliveries when it suits you and can cancel at any time, for peace of mind.
Also, while the brush heads are sold by booheads, the orders are fulfilled by Amazon, so if you have Prime, you can get free next-day delivery too.
Compatibility And Fit
It’s always good to know which electric toothbrush brands you can use the brush heads with and how they fit compared to the original ones. That’s why I had to include a section about this topic in my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review.
The booheads bamboo brush heads are only compatible with Philips Sonicare and Ordo Sonic electric toothbrushes in their Soniboo range. There is a big list of models on their website, which are compatible with their brush heads.
However, they have recently brought out their Oraboo range, which is compatible with Oral-b electric toothbrushes.
These are made of plastic and not bamboo though. But the plastic is from plant sources rather than fossil fuels and recyclable. So you can send the brush heads back once they are done with for booheads to recycle them.
Fit Seems To Be An Issue For Some
Regarding fit, the reviews are mixed. While most people say that initially the bamboo heads fit fine, after a few weeks they start to wobble. Not everyone seems to have this problem though, so it might just be an issue with certain models.
It also seems that the bamboo brush heads don’t fit perfectly, as there is a gap between the head and the toothbrush neck. However, this does not stop the brush head from working normally, so it’s just an aesthetic issue, which almost all people can live with.
The Oraboo brush heads on the other hand seem to fit perfectly. Customers are happy they are a great alternative to the Oral-b brush heads.
Range Of Products
Most big brands have a variety of different brushes that are good for different things. When you swap to a more eco-friendly alternative, you might want to have the same choice.
I’m pleased to reveal in my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review that you don’t have to compromise on this front if you choose their bamboo electric brush heads.
They offer brush heads that have V-shaped bristles for a deep clean. These give your teeth an extra good clean.
A Lot Of Choice
Then booheads also has brush heads for a polish clean that will whiten your teeth. There is also a hybrid version of the two, which presumably gives you a good clean and a whitening effect.
You can also choose the mini version, which is a smaller brush head. Ideal for children or people who prefer smaller bristles.
The bristles also come in different colours. This means you won’t mix up your toothbrush with your partner’s. Yay!
Their Oraboo range currently only has medium bristles. But you get three different colours, so that you can separate them from other family members.
Results
Let’s face it: why would you swap to a new product, if it isn’t at least as good as your old one?
And while it’s important to use more sustainable products, your dental health is vital. So unless you get the right results, why would you swap?
That’s why I include this section in my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review to make sure you don’t have to compromise.
The majority of people trying these toothbrush heads of both ranges, Soniboo and Oraboo, thought they cleaned their teeth well.
Some People Didn’t Like The Bamboo
Some people have reported that the wood felt uncomfortable when brushing for the bamboo brush heads. Others have said that while they had to get used to it, it was worth it.
It’s probably worth noting that if you are used to using a plastic brush head, it might take some time to get used to a bamboo one. And some people might never get used to it. It took me a while to get used to using a bamboo toothbrush when I tried it.
The good news is that the brush heads seem to do their job and can easily compete with their plastic counterparts when it comes to results.
Value For Money

While some people are lucky enough not to have to worry about price too much, most of us don’t want to overspend. So getting value for money is important, hence why I look into this for my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review.
Compared to the branded Philips replacement brush heads, the booheads brush heads are cheaper. So if you swap to them, you can even save money. The round brush heads of the Oraboo range are cheaper than the Oral-b brush heads, so no issue there either.
But on top of that, you also reduce your plastic waste, while getting the same results.
I would consider that great value for money.
Sustainability
The chances are, you are reading this booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review because you want to switch to more sustainable electric toothbrush heads.
That’s why this is a very important part of my review. After all, you want to make sure you are making the right decision for our planet, right?
Let’s get down to it. Booheads only uses bamboo that is Forestry Stewardship Certified. That means that their bamboo comes from growers that didn’t deforest the land to grow it.
As such, this is the most sustainable bamboo that you can get. Bamboo is compostable and can be put in the green waste bin or on a compost heap.
Connector Can’t Be Recycled
However, there is a plastic connector in the neck of the brush head that connects it to the toothbrush.
While this connector is made from biodegradable plastic that is plant-derived, it cannot be put in the green waste bin. Most councils won’t accept biodegradable plastic in their green or recycling bins. This means it has to be put in the general waste bin.
The good news is though, that the plastic connector is made from bioplastic. This means it has been derived from plant-based sources, which is more sustainable than traditional plastic that is fossil fuel-derived.
As such, the plastic used is more eco-friendly than what’s used in most plastic brush heads.
The bristles are made from a mix of nylon and castor oil mix. It is not clear what the nylon is made of. However, booheads states on their website that all materials they use are plant-based.
At the moment there is no viable non-plastic alternative to plastic bristles. And they can only be recycled in specialist facilities, but not at home. They need to go into the general waste bin.
So the most eco-friendly bristles are those that are made from plant-based materials, as this makes them more sustainable.
Free Return And Recycle System For Oraboo
The Oraboo brush heads are made from plant-based plastic, which is better than petroleum-derived plastic. They are also recyclable, however, not in your recycling bin at home.
You have to send the brushes back to booheads for them to recycle. They provide you with a free return box, which makes it very easy.
To conclude this section I can say that booheads brush heads are a more sustainable alternative to traditional plastic toothbrush heads. Any plastic they use is plant-derived, which makes it more eco-friendly. There will still be plastic waste, but it will be less than with plastic brush heads.
All packaging is made of cardboard, which can be recycled at home without an issue.
Customer Reviews
In my final section of my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review I will look at customer reviews. These can be very useful, as they can tell you what real users think.
Overall, booheads has good customer reviews. But some have reported issues with compatibility and fit, while others found they worked fine.
On Amazon UK they have 4 out of 5 stars from almost 400 reviews for their bamboo toothbrush heads, with 63% giving either a 4- or 5-star review.
16% of the reviews only gave a 1- or 2-star review and those are predominately about the brush heads not fitting properly or starting to fall off after a few weeks. Some people also didn’t like how the bamboo felt in their mouths.
But it seems this is more of a preference issue than anything to do with the actual brush heads. Because many more customers had no such issues.
Not All Customers Were Happy
The Oraboo recyclable brushheads have a rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars on Amazon with over 100 reviews. 77% have given them either a 4- or a 5-star rating.
Most customers said that they fit well, and are happy with them. But some did say that the brushheads can cause cuts as they catch the lips and gums. This has lead to some people getting mouth ulcers. However, these are in the minority.
All in all, more people are happy with their booheads bamboo toothbrush heads than not, which gives you a bit more confidence to give them a go.
I really like How it looks and feels. Didn’t have an issue with the feeling of wood as some have described. Teeth feel as clean as with the branded toothbrush head. Works great with my sonicare brush. One thing I noticed though is that it leaves a small gap between the toothbrush and this, but doesn’t affect it.
5-Star Review on Amazon
I recommend, especially because it’s more sustainable
I’ve been using Booheads products travelling/guests for over a year now and always loved them as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic toothbrushes, so was very happy to see they’d launched a head specifically designed to fit my electric Oral-B!
5-Star Review on Amazon
Can come a little loose after a while, other than that, no issues
4-Star Review on Amazon
Conclusion
We have come to the end of my booheads bamboo toothbrush heads review of their bamboo electric toothbrush heads.
And although the reviews are mixed, these brush heads appear to be a good eco-friendly alternative to plastic heads. The company only uses plant-based plastic where necessary and all packaging is recyclable at home.
The majority of customers are happy with the results they get from the booheads brush heads. And you have a choice of different types of brush heads.
It’s a good eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic brush heads without compromising on the health of your teeth.
