Truthbrush Bamboo Toothbrush Heads Review[UPDATED 2025] – Brushing your teeth is important, but many of our dental care products end up in landfill. In my Truthbrush review I will look at their bamboo toothbrush heads as an eco-friendly alternative.
You might be aware that electric toothbrush heads are very difficult to recycle. This means that most of them end up in landfill.
Because it’s recommended that you change your brush head every three months, millions of them get thrown away every year in the UK. This is not good for our planet.
The good news is, there are more eco-friendly alternatives. In my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review I will look at their brush heads and share my findings with you.
Why I Chose Truthbrush
This UK-based company has been founded by two friends who wanted to create a bamboo toothbrush that is sustainable and beautiful.
Believing that people will only switch to eco-friendly products if they feel and look good, they pair set about creating beautiful dental care products that are also eco-friendly.
They decided to use bamboo as a sustainable alternative to plastic. Their bamboo is sustainably sourced to ensure they don’t contribute to deforestation.
The Truthbrush strategy is based on doing what’s best for the planet and minimising their impact on our environment, while creating beautiful and sustainable dental care products.
That’s an attitude I love, because it’s the only way we can ensure we protect our planet for generations to come.
Truthbrush are also a member of the 1% for the planet, which means 1% of their sales are given to environmental on-profit organisations.
And that’s not all. They plant a tree for every order they get.
I also like that the company is led by two women. With so few women in leading roles within businesses, it’s good to see that progress is made there too.

In-Depth Truthbrush Review Of Their Bamboo Toothbrush Heads
It’s important to me that my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review is as useful as possible for you. That’s why I will look at different criteria to help you decide whether these are the toothbrush heads for you.
I will look at factors such as results, value for money and sustainability.
Convenience: Order Process And Delivery
To start my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review I will look at convenience. We are so used to everything being made easy for us, so that we won’t swap unless it’s easy.
You might buy your toothbrush heads in the supermarket with your food shop. I used to do that. That’s very convenient.
Unfortunately, eco-friendly brands don’t tend to be available in supermarkets. But that doesn’t mean that it’s difficult to get hold of their products.
Thruthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads are available on their website, which is easy to navigate. You will find what you want in no time.
You have different payment options. You can pay by credit/debit card, shopPay or GooglePay.
While Truthbrush offers a subscription service, the bamboo toothbrush heads aren’t included. This is a shame, because it would make it even more convenient.
Compatibility And Fit
The next factor I want to address is compatibility and fit.
Currently, their electric toothbrush heads are only compatible with the Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush. But it will work with a whole list of different Philips Sonicare models.
However, unless you already have this electric toothbrush brand, you will have to switch to it, if you want to swap your old toothbrush heads for the Truthbrush bamboo ones.
In terms of fit, the reviews are mixed. There are some people who have reported that the toothbrush heads don’t fit their Philips electric toothbrush.
Range Of Products
Truthbrush only offers their bamboo toothbrush heads as medium bristles. But let’s face it, many of the different brush heads that are sold by big brands are just gimmicks.
I once told my dentist about a new brush head I was using that also flosses your teeth. She told me that it didn’t work and that I’m better off using a standard brush head and floss.
They might not have the range of different brushes other toothbrush head brands have, but you can find other sustainable dental care products on their website.
If you are also looking for an eco-friendly alternative to toothpaste, then the Truthtabs could be for you.
Truthbrush also offers bamboo interdental brushes in two sizes. They have everything you need to keep your mouth clean and healthy in a sustainable way.
Results
This section of my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review is all about results. When you are looking to swap to a new product, you want to make sure that you will get the same or better results than with your old one.
That’s why this is an important part of my review.
The Truthbrush bamboo electric toothbrush head is still a relatively new product, so there aren’t too many reviews about it out there yet.
But the majority of the few there are, said that the brush heads clean their teeth well.
So there is no need to compromise on results when you swap to a sustainable Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush head.
Value For Money

Whether money is tight or not, you want to get value for money, right? So I had to include this factor in my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review.
I am very pleased to say that the Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads are cheaper than the Philips ones.
So by swapping to these heads you not only reduce your plastic waste, but you can also save money.
For me, that’s what value for money is all about. You will have clean teeth and a clean conscience with these sustainable toothbrush heads without being out of pocket.
Sustainability
Sustainability is the main reason you are looking at this Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review, right? After all, you want to reduce your plastic waste and your impact on the environment.
Therefore, I will have a very close look at how sustainable these toothbrush heads are.
The first thing to know is that Truthbrush only uses sustainably sourced bamboo, which is Forestry Stewardship Certified. That means that they don’t use bamboo that has been grown on deforested land.
Because bamboo is a wood it is compostable. As it does so, it will release nutrients which are beneficial for the environment.
So this brush head will not stay in our environment for hundreds of years and leak microplastics and toxins that harm our plants and wildlife.
The bristles are still made of nylon, which is a type of plastic. Currently, there is no non-plastic alternative for bristles that really works.
However, Truthbrush uses bristles that are made 100% from castor oil for their brush heads.
While this is still plastic, it has been made from the oil of the castor bean. Therefore, it’s plant-derived.
Most nylon bristles are made using crude oil, which means fossil fuel. As this is a finite material, it’s not sustainable to use it.
Bristles that are made from castor oil on the other hand are made from a sustainable material, which means the Truthbrush bristles are as eco-friendly as it can get, at the moment.
With all this in mind, I am happy to confirm that the Truthbrush toothbrush head is amongst the most eco-friendly options available at the moment.
Customer Reviews
When you consider trying a new product, you will want to know what other customers think. That’s why I look at the customer reviews for my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review.
It seems that the company isn’t on review sites, which isn’t great, but given they have to pay for them, I can understand it.
There are two reviews on Trustpilot, although the profile is unclaimed, and they are both 5-star reviews.
Looking at the reviews that are available, most customers seem happy with their Truthbrush electric toothbrush heads.
I couldn’t find any terrible reviews though, about the brush heads or the customer service, so that gives me confidence that the products are good. They just need more people reviewing them.
Great company with a good environmental message who also make good products. Really like their new sonic electric head as it means I can finally use a more sustainable toothbrush head 🙂

How To Dispose Of Your Truthbrush Bamboo Electronic Toothbrush Head?

If you have never used a bamboo toothbrush, you are probably wondering how to dispose of a bamboo toothbrush head.
That’s why I thought I would include some information about this in my review.
The first thing you need to do is to separate the bristles from the toothbrush head.
Although the bristles are made of castor oil, they are still plastic and need to be disposed of differently from the bamboo head.
You can either pull out the bristles with some pliers or just snap off the whole head. The bristles need to go in the general waste bin, as they can’t be recycled.
As we have already said, bamboo is wood and is therefore compostable. This means the toothbrush head without the bristles can either be put in your garden waste bin, or you can throw it on your compost heap.
If you don’t have access to a compost heap or garden waste bin, you can send your toothbrush heads back to Truthbrush. They will send them on to be recycled via TerraCycle.
Quite simple, really.
Conclusion
As we come to the end of my Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review, I’m happy to say I would recommend the bamboo toothbrush heads from Truthbrush.
Even though there aren’t too many reviews for their bamboo toothbrush heads yet, the company has excellent sustainability credentials. It is clear that they want to make a difference for the planet and that they are working on improving all the time.
Most people who have reviewed the Truthbrush electric toothbrush heads were happy with them and felt they cleaned their teeth well.
The brush heads are great value for money, costing less than the branded Philips ones. You will need a Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush though, as the Truthbrush bamboo heads are only compatible with this brand.
If you do have a Philips Sonicare, or considering getting one, then these eco-friendly toothbrush heads are a great way to reduce your plastic waste while still keeping your mouth healthy.
