Truthbrush Review: Eco-Friendly Dental Care Products [UPDATED 2025] – If you are looking for more sustainable dental care products, look no further. Our Truthbrush review will tell you if their oral hygiene products are worth it.
In recent years we have all become more conscious about our impact on the planet. As a result, many of us are trying to live a more sustainable life. I’m one of those people.
Did you know that most of the oral care products we use end up in landfill? That’s because items such as electric toothbrush heads and toothpaste tubes are difficult to recycle.
Dental floss is particularly bad for our planet, because it can easily get into our environment, where it can cause a lot of harm.
So I started to look for alternatives that are better for our planet while still keeping my mouth clean and healthy.
In my Truthbrush review I will share the results of my research into this eco-friendly dental care brand.
In-Depth Truthbrush Review
I know that sometimes it can be a bit daunting to swap products you know work well for you. Even more so, if they help to keep your mouth healthy.
And all too often, swapping to more sustainable alternatives means spending more money.
So to help you make a decision that is right for you, my Truthbrush review will look at different important criteria to help you decide.
Including value for money, sustainability and results.
Sustainability – Green Credentials

I will start my Truthbrush review by looking closely at the green credentials of this UK-based company. After all, you want to swap because you want to live a more sustainable life.
The first thing that struck me was that Truthbrush was founded by two women, which is still rather rare. They had a lightbulb moment in a hotel when they saw a cheap toothbrush that was provided to guests.
They realised that it would only be used maximum a few times and then end up in landfill. Then and there, they made a decision to make a difference.
Believing that people want beautiful things, they set about creating the Truthbrush. A bamboo toothbrush that is beautiful, sustainable and does what it’s meant to do.
They opted for bamboo, because it is compostable and won’t pollute the planet like plastic does. They only use bamboo that is grown sustainably and organically.
What I really love about Truthbrush is that they are very honest and transparent. They state on their website that the bristles they use are plastic, as currently there is no non-plastic alternative to nylon.
But their bristles are made from castor oil, which is a plant-based source. This means, while they are still plastic, they are more sustainable than traditional bristles, which are made from fossil fuel.
Their medium bristles are made 100% from castor oil, while the soft ones contain 62% castor oil and 38% nylon.
Truthbrush is aware that this is not perfect, but at the moment, this is the best possible option, until new technology allows for a fully non-plastic alternative.
After the bamboo toothbrush the company enlarged their range to include more sustainable dental care products.
They are also part of 1% For The Planet, which means they give 1% of each wholesale order to environmental non-profit organisations.
All packaging they use is fully recyclable. This shows that they do all they can to reduce the amount that goes to landfill.
Using Truthbrush products means you can reduce the waste you produce and the impact you have on our planet.
Range Of Products
Truthbrush specialises in dental care products, so you can get everything you need for your daily oral hygiene routine.
They offer the following products:
- Bamboo toothbrush
- Bamboo electric toothbrush head
- Toothpaste tablets
- Bamboo interdental brushes
To ensure that you get a good overview of what this brand can offer you, this Truthbrush review will look at each individual product.
Bamboo Toothbrush – The Truthbrush

If you want to reduce plastic in your bathroom, then the Truthbrush bamboo toothbrushes are a great way to do that.
Made with sustainably sourced bamboo, they lend a certain elegance to every bathroom. The bristles are made mostly from plant-derived nylon.
Your toothbrush will be delivered in beautiful and recyclable packaging with no plastic in sight.
You have the choice between soft and medium bristles. Each toothbrush also has a colourful tip, which makes sure you don’t mix up your toothbrushes.
The handle can be thrown on a compost heap or in the green waste bin. But if you don’t have access to either, you can send your bamboo toothbrush back to Truthbrush.
They will then ensure that it gets recycled in the correct way, even the bristles. That way, nothing will reach landfill.
Truthbrush also offers a smaller version of their bamboo toothbrush, the Tiny Truthbrush, that perfectly fits the mouths of children.
And they have added the Tiny Truthbrush Travel Case to their range, so that your child can travel with their bamboo toothbrush in style.
It’s made of bamboo and has a little panda face on it, really cute. A shame they don’t have this travel case also for adults.
I really like the Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush. It doesn’t just look very stylish, it also cleans my teeth nicely. I opted for medium bristles.
It was a bit odd at first to brush with a wooden toothbrush. I have always used plastic ones and I did notice the difference. The plastic toothbrush glides a bit easier.
However, after using the bamboo Truthbrush for a few times, I didn’t notice it anymore. And I love seeing this little beauty on my sink, knowing that it’s made from sustainable bamboo and won’t harm our planet.
Other customers are also very happy and love the design of the Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush. And it’s not just the look that convinces, so do the results.
Bamboo Electric Toothbrush Heads
If you have an electric toothbrush, and you are looking for an alternative to your plastic brush head, then the Truthbrush bamboo electric toothbrush head could be the answer.
The head is made of sustainably sourced bamboo and the bristles from castor oil, which means from a plant-derived source.
This means that there is only a small amount of plastic and this has been made from sustainable materials, rather than fossil fuels.
The Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads are currently only compatible with Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes.
And the brushes only come with medium bristles, however, most electric brushheads do.
While there aren’t many reviews yet, most of the ones that we did find are positive and say the brush heads work well.
All in all, these bamboo toothbrush heads are a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic ones.
You can find out more about the heads in our full Truthbrush bamboo toothbrush heads review.
Truthtabs – Toothpaste Tablets

Truthbrush also offers toothpaste tablets, the Truthtabs. These are a great zero-waste alternative to toothpaste.
Made in the UK, the tablets contain fluoride to support the health of your teeth.
There is only one flavour on offer, wild mint. But as most toothpastes have a minty flavour, this is not really a drawback. What I really like is that the flavour is not too overpowering. It’s subtle but makes your mouth feel fresh after you have brushed it.
The tablets are really easy to use. Just pop them into your mouth, bite down a few times and start brushing. They foam up quite well, even if not as much as with traditional toothpaste.
My husband was surprised how much they actually foamed up. He too really liked them.
After brushing, my mouth felt clean and fresh. No different really to using normal toothpaste, except that you do something good for our planet.
You can buy either a one-month or a three-month supply.
The tablets come in a plastic bag that is biodegradable. Unfortunately, it doesn’t say how long and under which circumstances the bag will break down, so I can’t be sure it won’t spend ages in landfill.
The bag itself was in cardboard packaging that is compostable. And you can also buy a beautiful glass apothecary jar, in which you can store your Truthbrush toothpaste tablets.
Not only will this get rid of plastic in your bathroom, but it will also look stylish, while being really practical.
Bamboo Interdental Brushes
After you have brushed your teeth, you should floss. And dentists say that interdental brushes are the best tool to clean between your teeth.
Truthbrush‘s interdental brushes are made with a bamboo handle. And they are made to last, so you can reuse them.
The bristles are made of nylon, which is currently the only material that really works for interdental brushes.
But because the handle is made from bamboo, the amount of plastic used in these interdental brushes is much less than in traditional plastic ones.
You have the choice between two sizes: 0.4mm and 0.5mm, depending on the thickness of bristles you need.
The Truthbrush bamboo interdental brushes come in compostable packaging, like all their products.
Value For Money

The next thing I want to look at in my Truthbrush review is whether their products are value for money.
And the great news is that Truthbrush‘s products are very well-priced. Compared to most traditional oral care products, you might even save some money.
If you subscribe to their subscription service, you can save even more money. The bamboo toothbrushes, Truthtabs and the bamboo interdental brushes are included in their subscription service.
Not only will you save money, it’s also so convenient. Because you just tell them how often you want to receive your dental care products and that’s it. You can forget all about it.
Unfortunately, their bamboo electric toothbrush heads are not included yet. But if you are used to buying the branded Philips replacement heads, you will save if you swatch to the Truthbrush ones.
But where the value for money for me really comes in is the fact that you will get good quality products that won’t harm the planet.
Now that’s what I call getting value for money!
Truthbrush Customer Reviews
Nowadays, most people look to reviews to decide whether to give a new product a go. I am the same. So I wanted to include a section about customer reviews in my Truthbrush review.
The first thing I noticed is that there aren’t too many around. Truthbrush features some reviews of their customers on their website, which mostly talk about the bamboo toothbrushes.
They are all very positive, and it seems customers are happy with their eco-friendly toothbrushes.
At first, I was a bit sceptical. But I soon realised that this doesn’t mean that the products are not good. The company is just not very focused on getting reviews.
I only found two reviews on Trustpilot, which is rare. However, it is worth keeping in mind that companies have to pay to be on Trustpilot. And as a small business starting out, it’s probably not viable to spend money on that.
Both reviews on Trustpilot are a 5-star ones and the customers are very happy with his bamboo electric toothbrush head.
I really liked Truthbrush‘s mission and ethics, so I thought I would give it a go and see for myself. And I am pleased to say I was not disappointed.
So despite the scarcity of customer reviews, I can say you won’t regret swapping to their eco-friendly products. I really like their bamboo toothbrush and the toothpaste tablets. They did a great job at keeping my mouth clean.
Great company with a good environmental message who also make good products. Really like their new sonic electric head as it means I can finally use a more sustainable toothbrush head 🙂
5-Star Review on Trustpilot
Conclusion
We have now reached the end of my Truthbrush review, and I am happy to say I would recommend their products to anyone who wants to switch to more eco-friendly dental care products.
Their range includes everything you need for a sustainable oral care routine that will keep your mouth and the planet clean.
Despite there not being many customer reviews, having tried their bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste tablets, I believe they offer quality products.
I love their ethics and like the fact that they focus solely on eco-friendly dental care. This means Truthbrush can become experts and offer highly functional products that won’t harm the planet.
Because they use bamboo, which is sustainably grown, they avoid a lot of plastic. This means that they keep the amount of plastic they use to a minimum.
If you want switch to a more eco-friendly dental care routine without compromising on the health of your mouth, then Truthbrush has you covered.
