Dri-Pak Review – DIY Natural Cleaning Products [UPDATED 2025] – If you want to make sure you have an eco-friendly cleaning routine, then making your own cleaners is a great choice. In our Dri-Pak review we tell you if their natural cleaning ingredients do the job.

When I was researching eco-friendly cleaning products, I came across much information about making your own using natural ingredients.

I like the idea, because it means that you know exactly what is in your household cleaners. So when I came across Dri-Pak, I was delighted and thought I had to review them.

So in my Dri-Pak review I will tell you if it is worth buying their cleaning cupboard staples to make your own eco-friendly cleaners.

Why I Chose Dri-Pak

Dri-Pak is a Derbyshire-based company that makes all their products right here in the UK. Although the company has been around since 1961, they only launched their natural cleaning range in 2015.

What I like about this company is that they go back to traditional ingredients that have been used to clean for centuries.

We, as a society, have the tendency to want new things all the time, whether this is cleaning products or technology.

But sometimes the traditional is best, not just for us but especially for the environment. So you won’t find any nasty chemicals in the Dri-Pak cleaning range. Only natural cleaning agents that will do the job without being toxic for us or the planet. These ingredients include white vinegar, citric acid and bicarbonate of soda.

All this means that they don’t use any harmful or toxic chemicals. 

One thing I wish they would change is that some of their products, such as the white vinegar, come in a plastic bottle. That’s a real shame.

Even if their bottles contain recycled materials, they still contain virgin plastics, which is not good. If you want to rid your under-the-sink cupboard of plastic, you are better off looking for white vinegar from a different brand.

However, many of their other products come in cardboard boxes, which will reduce your plastic waste. Their prices are also very competitive. 

This makes them a great brand for anyone on a budget who wants to have an eco-friendly cleaning routine.

So while Dri-Pak aren’t as eco-friendly as they could be, it is worth looking at their products. And that’s why I chose them.

In order to make this Dri-Pak review as useful to you as possible, I will look at factors that will help you to make a decision.

These factors include value for money, effectiveness and ease of use.

Convenience

Now then, let’s get this Dri-Pak review started.

First I want to talk about convenience, because we are so used to getting things quickly and easily. And it’s unlikely that we will swap to a new product if it’s difficult or time-consuming. 

The first thing you should know is that Dri-Pak don’t sell their products directly to customers. Instead, they sell them to various retailers.

You can buy some of their products, the ones that are plastic-free, on the re:gn website. This is an online store that only sells eco-friendly products.

Their website is easy to navigate, so you quickly find what you want. You can pay with credit/debit card, shopPay, GooglePay or Clearpay (which lets you pay in interest-free instalments to spread the cost).

Orders are dispatched quickly, mine was sent out the same day, with Evri. You get a tracking number, so you know when you will receive your parcel.

All packaging is recyclable, including the paper tape and the delivery note. The box was small, so not much filler material was needed, only a bit of recyclable paper.

Product Range

The next factor I want to discuss in my Dri-Pak review is the range of products. When you make your own natural cleaners, you don’t need many ingredients. 

Dri-Pak have all the ingredients you need:

• Bicarbonate of Soda
• Citric Acid
• Borax Subsitute
• Oxi-Boost

They do also have white vinegar, but as I have said it comes in a plastic bottle. If you want this ingredient without the plastic waste, I recommend Miniml. They have a refill scheme, where you send the refill pouch back for free to them, and they wash and refill it.

With these ingredients you can clean your home without nasty chemicals, and you can make your own natural cleaners too.

Effectiveness

One thing that is important when you are deciding to swap to a new product is to know that it works. So in my Dri-Pak review I have a detailed look at the effectiveness of these products.

The great thing about these natural cleaning agents is that they have been used for centuries and are proven to work.

Bicarbonate Of Soda

You might know this ingredient from baking, but it is also great for cleaning. It’s a gentle abrasive.

It has the ability to break down dirt molecules, which means it can get rid of grime and dirt. Having the Dri-Pak bicarbonate of soda at home is totally worth it.

I have used baking soda often for stains on clothes. Just mix with some water to make a paste and put on the stain. Leave for 10 minutes or so, then wash as normal.

It is also a great deodoriser, getting rid of smells in carpets, fridges/freezers and bins.

You can easily make a deodorant for clothes and furnishing. Just put a tablespoon or so in a spray bottle, fill up with water and you are ready.

Shake the bottle and spray on clothes to refresh them. I use it all the time and it allows me to wash clothes less when they aren’t dirty.

Citric Acid

It might sound like a harsh substance, but citric acid naturally occurs in lemons and is not harmful at all. 

This natural cleaning agent is able to break down the protective coating of many types of dirt. Because it’s an acid, it is great at getting rid of limescale, soap and rust.

For the same reason, it also has antibacterial properties, which means it can kill bacteria and fungi, such as mould.

That’s why I now always have a box of Dri-Pak citric acid in the house.

One reason I bought this product is to descale our kettle. Because citric acid is non-toxic, it’s safe for this purpose unlike other limescale removers. It worked a treat.

But I also use it to remove limescale from our kitchen taps, as it can get quite bad. All I have to do is mix the citric acid with some water to make a coarse paste. Then I use a cloth to rub the taps with the paste.

It gets rid of any limescale stains and leaves my taps shiny. I try not to let it get too bad, so that it is easier to clean them.

Borax Subsitute

If you are not sure what this is, neither was I. Borax is a salt that has great cleaning properties. But it’s also hazardous for our health, which is why its use was banned in the UK and EU.

Borax substitute has the same properties, but without the health risks. It’s a mineral compound that has a pH level of 9.5, which is slightly alkaline.

Combined with water, it can break down fatty, oily and acidic substances. It has similar properties to bicarbonate soda, but is stronger.

So it’s well worth having Dri-Pak borax substitute in your cupboard. It’s great for more stubborn stains and dirt. It can be used as a cleaner or added to laundry.

Oxi-Boost

This is actually oxygen bleach, which is not the same as chloride bleach which you find in chemical cleaners.

Unlike its chemical cousin, oxygen bleach is naturally derived and safe, because it is non-toxic and biodegradable.

So you can use the Dri-Pak oxi boost without any worries and know that you are using a product that is safe for you, your family and the planet.

When it comes in contact with water, it produces oxygen, which helps lift out stains from clothes and dirt from your surfaces. 

Easy To Use

The reason most cleaning products contain harsh chemicals is that they work well and quickly, making cleaning easier.

So when you swap to an eco-friendly alternative, you want the same. That’s why I covered this factor in my Dri-Pak review.

Depending on how bad the stains are, these natural cleaning agents might not always get it cleaned the first time. Or you need to put a bit of elbow grease in.

The best way to keep cleaning with these quick and easy is by cleaning often. You want to prevent bad limescale or soap build up. I now clean my taps with a citric acid paste (mixed with water) every few weeks to keep my taps sparkling.

Although these natural cleaning agents are easy to use, there are different ways to use them, which means at first it might look more difficult.

The good news is that Dri-Pak puts instructions on their packaging, so you know how you can use each product.

With some of them, such as bicarbonate of soda and citric acid, you can just dissolve a small amount in water in a spray bottle and use as cleaners.

The baking soda cleaner can be used as a multipurpose cleaner. The citric acid one is great to remove limescale in sinks, baths, on taps and shower screens.

It basically could be used as a replacement for white vinegar, as it will work just as well.

You can find recipes for homemade natural cleaning products using these ingredients online.

That’s how easy it is to make your own natural cleaning products that don’t contain any harsh chemicals. 

One good thing about these cleaning substances is that they all come as a powder. This means that you can use them more or less diluted or even as they are.

As a result, you can deal with tougher grime, dirt and stains without having to put yourself, your family and the environment at risk.

So while Dri-Pak’s products are easy to use, you will have to get your head around how to use the different products. And with tougher stains a bit of time and effort is needed.

Value For Money

While some people aren’t too fussed about how much money they spend, most of us don’t have that luxury. So getting value for money is important.

That’s why I couldn’t leave this factor out in my Dri-Pak review.

The good news is that these products are not expensive at all. If you use them to make homemade natural cleaning products, you will save money compared to buying household cleaners.

And you also get rid of single-use plastic and nasty chemicals. Using these traditional natural cleaning agents will keep your home clean without harming the health of your family or the planet.

Now that’s great value for money!

This didn’t really surprise me, given that the cleaning agents they sell aren’t new. On the contrary, they have been used for centuries.

But it’s always good to get this confirmed by other happy customers.

Can You Use Dri-Pak Products With A Septic Tank?

If, like us, you live rural, then you probably have a private water treatment plant. It can be a bit difficult to know what cleaning products are ok to use.

So I wanted to answer this question in my Dri-Pak review.

The good news is that these natural cleaning agents won’t cause a problem for your septic tank. They are all biodegradable and non-toxic, so no need to worry.
