My Awake Organics Deodorant Review – Probiotic Against BO [UPDATED 2026] – Looking for an eco-friendly way to keep body odour at bay? In my Awake Organics deodorant review I will share my experience with their probiotic deodorant with you.

After shampoo bars and toothbrush heads, I have now turned my attention to another vital part of my personal care routine: my deodorant. All to achieve my goal of a zero-waste bathroom.

Unsurprisingly, my research has found that conventional deodorants aren’t the best for our environment. So I wanted to switch to one that won’t impact our planet. 

In my quest to find the best eco-friendly deodorants, I came across Awake Organics. Their probiotic deodorants attracted me, as I love the concept of probiotics. Working with nature, rather than against it, is just what I want to do.

So in this review, I will tell you how I got on with the Awake Organics probiotic deodorant.

Why I Chose Awake Organics

We are quite picky here at EcoHomeLife when it comes to choosing products. That’s because our mission is to help you to live a more sustainable life. And switching to eco-friendly products is a part of it.

But that only works if you choose a brand that embraces sustainability and puts the environment at the heart of their business. 

One important factor for us to select a product is where the company is based and where it produces its products. The closer, the better, which means ideally here in the UK.

Handmade In The UK

Awake Organics is a family-run business based in the UK who makes their products on site by hand. Some are made by other manufacturers in England.

In fact, 89% of their ingredients and packaging are made right here in the UK, keeping the supply chain as small as possible, to keep the carbon footprint as small as possible. Speaking of packaging: they only use plastic when absolutely necessary, like for droppers and pumps.

However, in these cases they offer refills, so that the droppers and pumps can be reused for years to come, which will reduce plastic waste.

The vast majority of packaging is made from recyclable materials such as glass, aluminium and card. Their card packaging is also made from recycled materials. 

Only Natural Ingredients

What about the ingredients? Awake Organics only use natural ingredients, so no harmful, toxic nasties in sight. All their products are free from parabens, SLS, artificial fragrances and petrochemicals, and many other harmful ingredients you might find in conventional products.

Of course, none of their products have been tested on animals and are certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny.

One thing I absolutely love about this UK-brand is that they are constantly looking to become even more environmentally friendly. They created a closed-loop return programme for their glass jars and switched to renewable energy.

And in short, that’s why I chose Awake Organics.

Looking to live a more sustainable life, I have tried many different eco-friendly products, so I know what to look for. And because I want to help you find the eco-friendly deodorant that works for you, I will look at important factors, so you can decide confidently.

These include performance, longevity and value for money.

Performance

Now let’s move on to a very important factor: performance. This is probably the most important section of my review, because if it doesn’t work, why would you want to buy it, right?

This is a probiotic deodorant. If you aren’t familiar with the concept, here is a brief explanation. Probiotic means live cultures of good/helpful bacteria. These already live naturally on your skin.

By adding more, they will outcompete the bad/odour-causing bacteria. Then there are prebiotics, which is food for the good bacteria. This will help them to thrive and ensure bad bacteria stay away.

So rather than killing all bacteria, as natural deodorants do, a probiotic deodorant encourages the good ones to keep away the bad ones. If you want to know more, you can read my guide about probiotic deodorants.

Outstanding Protection

I love the idea of probiotics, so I was a bit nervous to try this deodorant in case it didn’t work. But I’m very pleased to say that I didn’t need to worry. The Awake Organics probiotic deodorant works a treat.

Even when I’m very active, such as doing housework, being out and about or in warm weather, my armpits stay fresh.

Yes, I do sweat, after all it’s not an antiperspirant, but there is only a slight dampness and no body odour. 

In terms of scent, I have chosen the Space Cat Deodorant, which has a fresh and light scent. To be absolutely honest, I was attracted by the name, as we have cats ourselves.

Subtle Scent

Unlike my old antiperspirant, the fragrance of the Awake Organics probiotic deodorant is subtle. That’s because they use essential oils rather than artificial fragrances.

I don’t mind that, because I’m not a fan of strong scents anyway. I prefer a slight perfume that catches my nose every now and again.

I did also notice that my underarm skin is softer and doesn’t get red as it sometimes did with my old antiperspirant. I guess the high-quality natural ingredients are kinder on my skin than the synthetic ingredients used in conventional deodorants.

My Husband Is The Newest Convert

All in all, I’m very impressed with the performance of this probiotic deodorant. My husband even tried it and thinks it works great.

He now has switched to Awake Organics probiotic deodorant for good, because the natural deodorant he choose before irritated his armpits. We think it’s because it contained bicarbonate of soda.

Since he has switched to the Awake Organics one without this ingredients, his skin under his arm is fine. He has now even switched to their shampoo powder, so impressed was he by the deodorant.

Transition Period

You might be aware that if you switch from an antiperspirant to a natural deodorant, you are likely to experience a transition period. 

And as the Awakes Organics deodorant isn’t an antiperspirant, you might have to go through such a phase. Because I had used a natural deodorant before trying this, I didn’t experience it again.

While it’s not the most comfortable experience, it’s also not the end of the world. And it doesn’t last forever, only about four weeks for most people, of which the first two are the worst.

There are two symptoms you will experience: more sweat and a stronger smell. Your body will find a new balance, however, and they will disappear.

Ease Of Use

The next factor I want to discuss in my Awake Organics deodorant review is how easy it is to use it. This probiotic deodorant comes in the form of a cream that you distribute across your armpits. That’s all very easy; the only tricky part is to find out how much you will need.

The instructions say to use a pea-sized amount, but that it might take a bit of trial and error to find the right amount for you. For me, the pea-sized amount is sufficient, even a bit too much. But my husband needs quite a bit more than that.

Not only are his armpits bigger, but he also has hair under his arms. So it might take a bit of time to find the right amount, but then it’s easy-peasy to use.

You also need to keep it cool in warm weather. I keep it in our bedroom, as it’s the coolest room in the house. But you can also put it in the fridge, if none of your rooms stays cool enough.

Staining

One thing that annoyed me most with my old antiperspirant was the stains. I often had white stains on my tops, which could only be removed when wiped away with water.

Especially when pressed for time, this was frustrating. The good news is that with the Awake Organics probiotic deodorant, this doesn’t happen. As I only use a small amount, the deodorant has been absorbed into my skin by the time I walked from the bathroom into the bedroom.

That’s a huge plus point. But what about these yellowish stains on the underarms of tops and t-shirts? Well, they occur when the aluminium in antiperspirants react with the salt in your sweat.

Because the Awake Organics probiotic deodorant doesn’t contain aluminium, it won’t cause these yellowish stains. This means that new clothes will last longer, which is always an advantage, for the environment and your budget.

So say goodbye to deodorants that ruin your clothes and say hello to the Awake Organics probiotic deodorant cream.

Longevity

Now let’s look at how long this probiotic deodorant lasts. There are two aspects to this: the question of how long the product lasts and how long it will keep you fresh.

You have probably seen adverts of conventional deodorants that claim that they will keep you fresh for 48 or even 72 hours. Will this probiotic deodorant do the same? I couldn’t tell you, because I tend to shower daily. 

But I can tell you that Awake Organics deodorant keeps me fresh and dry all day and through the night. Even in warm weather, when I’m more active or in stressful situations. So I would say, it keeps you fresh for 24 hours for sure.

Will Last For Around 3 Months

And what about the deodorant itself: how long does it last? Well, this will, of course, depend on how much you use. Awake Organics say that on average their deodorant lasts about three months.

Taking my own experience, it lasted around four months. Because I don’t need to use that much, it lasted longer. I should also say that I only used it once in 24 hours. 

So even if I used it in the morning and then exercised in the evening and showered, I wouldn’t use it again. That’s because I don’t feel the need to, unless I’m going out. 

Compared to my old antiperspirant, which only lasted about two weeks, it lasts quite a bit longer. In fact, six to eight times as long. This leads me nicely to my next section…

Value For Money

Eco-friendly products have the reputation of being more expensive. And if you look at the price of this probiotic deodorant, it does look pricier.

However, we need to keep in mind that the Awake Organics deodorant lasts much longer, six to eight times longer, as we have seen. So what does this mean in terms of value for money?

Assuming you currently buy a conventional deodorant or antiperspirant. On average, it probably costs about £2.50. If this lasts you two weeks, then it would cost you £15 for three months.

Switch And Save Money

This is more than one tin of Awake Organics’ probiotic deodorant, which will last you the same amount of time.

So by switching, you could save money. But that’s not all: you will also get a zero-plastic, zero-waste deodorant that doesn’t contain any nasty ingredients that will harm the environment or you.

For me, that’s real value for money!

Customer Reviews

As part of my review I also look at what other customers think. While I share my experience with this deodorant with you, it’s always good to see what others think too.

There aren’t many reviews on the usual review sites, such as Trustpilot or Feefo. That’s probably down to the fact that Awake Organics are a small family-run business, which means they don’t have the budget to be on these review sites. 

In case you didn’t know, businesses have to pay a fee to use them or have a profile. However, you can also buy Awake Organics’ products on Amazon, and on there they have a 4.2-star out of 5 rating, from over 700 reviews for the deodorant I used. The majority of customers are happy.

Happy Customers Love How Well It Works

89% of customers who tried it gave a 4- or 5-star review. The two stand-out positives is performance and how long it lasts.

The 11% of customers who gave it a 1- or 2-star review complained about the smell and many skin issues. Some people say that their skin got irritated, but when looking into it further, it transpired that they all used a version with bicarbonate soda, the Moon Goo deodorant.

However, it’s the only of their probiotic deodorants that contains bicarbonate soda, so if you know you might react to it, keep away from the Moon Goo one.

This deoderant works for me, it’s a reasonable price as you only need a tiny amount and it smells amazing (I got the Space Cat flavour). I’m definately getting this again. I go on the treadmill every day and really sweat, so I’m impressed this natural deoderant is as effective as my old one.

Verdict

So here you have it, my Awake Organics deodorant review has come to an end and all that’s left is to give you my verdict. I absolutely love it! The concept of probiotics really appeals to me because I prefer to work with rather than against nature.

And the best thing about this probiotic deodorant is that it works great. It keeps me fresh all day. I do sweat and might get a bit damp under my arms, but I don’t smell of BO. The scent, from essential oils, is subtle, but lovely.

The Space Cat deodorant has a light and fresh smell that puts me in a good mood in the morning. No mean feat, given that I’m not a morning person at all. 

Great Value For Money

The natural ingredients and plastic-free packaging ensure that this deodorant won’t harm our planet, so you can keep your conscience clean while feeling fresh.

The Awake Organics probiotic deodorant is also great value for money, as it will last six to eight times longer than a conventional spray antiperspirant. So you might even save money.
