My Wild Deodorant Review [UPDATED 2025] – I want to have a more sustainable personal care routine, so I’m trying out eco-friendly deodorants. In my Wild deodorant review I will share my experience with you.

You might know that conventional deodorants have a big environmental impact. They contain harmful and toxic ingredients that get washed down and enter our waterways where they are a threat to aquatic life.

Aerosol cans release volatile compounds that are responsible for the formation of ozone. And we all know how bad this is for our planet. And then there is the packaging, which is often plastic or other non-recyclable materials.

This all sounds rather bad, right? That’s what I thought, so I decided to switch to an eco-friendly deodorant that keeps me fresh without harming the planet. And it will help me to reduce my carbon footprint.

I came across Wild and was intrigued by their natural deodorant. So I decided to give it a go. In my Wild deodorant review I will tell you how I got on.

Who Are Wild?

screenshot of Wild deodorant website with mission statement

Here at EcoHomeLife we always start our review with the question: why have we chosen this particular brand? And my Wild deodorant review is no different. So why Wild?

This UK-based company is on a mission to change our throwaway society. That’s why they have created a refill body wash and deodorant that will last for life. This is a mission we here at EcoHomeLife can wholeheartedly support.

Wild created a plastic-free deodorant case that can be refilled. So no more aerosols and plastic packaging. The deodorant itself is a stick that sits in a case made from bamboo pulp. This can be recycled at home.

So there is no waste at all. That’s so great. But that’s not all. Because it’s not a spray deodorant, you won’t release any nasty polluting chemicals every time you use it.

And on top of all this, Wild say they only use natural ingredients that won’t harm you or the planet. So when you wash, you can be sure that no harmful chemicals will be washed into our waterways.

However, they do use synthetic fragrances, which we know are harmful to our environment. As justification, Wild says that the production of lab-made fragrances can be more sustainable than making natural ones.

They also point to unsustainable harvest practices for some natural fragrance ingredients. And it’s true that making, for example, essential oils can be unsustainable because only a small amount of the plant is used. And yes, some harvest practices are unsustainable.

However, studies have shown that synthetic fragrances are toxic for our environment. (Wu et al., 2021). Besides, most are made from petrochemicals, which means fossil fuels, which is hardly sustainable.

There is such a thing as sustainable fragrance ingredients that aren’t essential oils. These are synthetic fragrances that are made from renewable resources, which are either plant based or biodegradable. (Elterlein et al., 2024)

Wild doesn’t state if that’s what they are using, all they say is that they don’t use harmful ingredients. However, given that sustainability is a big part of their mission, it wouldn’t fit for them to use petrochemical-based fragrances. So I give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

The packaging used to send out their orders is also 100% plastic-free and recyclable. But they have also designed their delivery boxes in a way to ensure that everything fits snugly. This means they get away with the least amount of material possible.

I love it when companies put so much thought into every little detail. For me that’s what puts these eco-friendly brands apart from most other brands.

In-Depth Wild Deodorant Review

So let’s get down to it and find out if the Wild natural deodorant is worth the switch. I will be looking at different factors in detail, including performance, ease of use and value for money.

This will ensure that my Wild deodorant review is as useful to you as possible.

Convenience

My Wild order arrived promptly and packaged up perfectly.

I want to begin with the topic of convenience. I don’t know about you, but I like to make my life easy. And this includes getting the products I need. I used to buy my deodorant in the supermarket as part of my weekly shop.

So if I’m to switch to a new one, it has to be easy to get too. And I’m very pleased to say that Wild is making it very easy indeed.

You can order your sustainable deodorant on the Wild website. You start by choosing your refillable case. You have the choice of different colours and patterns. For a small extra fee, you can even get it engraved to make it properly your own.

Then you decide whether you want to subscribe or make a one-off purchase. You can buy three or five refills if you opt for the one-off option.

If you subscribe, you will get the case and one refill with your first order. Then you get a refill sent to you automatically according to the schedule you set.

Now it doesn’t get any more convenient than that, does it?

Finally, you decide on which scent you want. I bought three different ones, because I wanted to see which one I liked best.

And that’s it. Your parcel from Wild will arrive with Royal Mail in no time. There is an option to pay extra for First Class delivery, if you are in a hurry.

I would say that if you choose the subscription it becomes even more convenient than having to buy it with your weekly shop.

Performance

I love my Wild deodorant. It keeps my armpits dry and smelling fresh all day.

The next topic I want to discuss is performance. This is probably the most important factor in my Wild deodorant review. You don’t want to compromise on performance, right?

First, let’s talk about moving away from using an antiperspirant, because the Wild deodorant isn’t an antiperspirant. I was a bit nervous about this to begin with. But after I did some research I found out that antiperspirants aren’t that good for you.

They basically stop you from sweating, while a deodorant prevents body odour. Sweating is a necessary bodily function that helps you to regulate your body’s temperature. And sweat does not smell.

It’s the bacteria that consume your sweat that create the bad odour. And while the Wild deodorant isn’t classed as an antiperspirant, because it doesn’t contain aluminium, it does contain tapioca starch, which absorbs moisture. So it will still keep you dry, but without stopping your body from sweating.

But does it work? The answer is yes. I’m quite a sweaty person, but the Wild deodorant does keep me dry. And my armpits smell fresh all day.

Even if I vacuum or do other housework that is more active, I still feel fresh afterwards. I’ll sweat, but there is no bad odour. This shows that the Wild deodorant does its job.

My pits are also nice and soft, which is great as I did get dry underarms sometimes with my old deodorant.

Another part of the performance of a deodorant is the scent. Most conventional deodorants you can buy are strongly scented. With my old deodorant the scent was almost overwhelming, and it would stay on my clothes even after they had been washed.

Now you might like that, but what if you want to use perfume? If your deodorant or antiperspirant is overpowering the lovely scent of your perfume, what’s the point spending your money on your favourite scent?

The Wild deodorant has a lovely but subtle scent. If you stick your nose in your armpits, you’ll smell it. But it won’t overpower any perfume you want to put on.

However, I did notice that the scent did stick to my clothes and I could still smell it even after having washed them. I’m not too keen on that, but it’s not an issue either.

You have the choice of several different scents. I have tried three so far: jasmine & mandarine blossom, coconut and vanilla and fresh cotton and sea salt. They all smell gorgeous, but my favourite is fresh cotton and sea salt.

It smells so fresh and reminds me of washing that has been hung out to dry on a lovely summer’s day. And I love that smell. If you are sensitive to scents, you can get an unscented deodorant stick too.

All in all, I’m really impressed with the performance of the Wild deodorant allround.

Transition Period

This is a topic I read a lot about, so wanted to include it in my Wild deodorant review. The thing is, if you change from an antiperspirant to a natural deodorant you might experience a transition period.

It’s the time it takes your body to adjust to the new deodorant. An antiperspirant stops your body from sweating, while a deodorant stops bad odours. When you switch from one to the other, you might notice that you start to sweat more.

That’s the transition period. It won’t be the same for everyone or last the same amount of time. Wild says it takes around 2 weeks before it gets better and 4 weeks for it to go back to normal.

For me, it took 3 to 4 weeks. I noticed it after the first day. I started to sweat more, which caused body odour. Because I did research beforehand, I was expecting it. While it wasn’t the most pleasant, I dealt with it by washing my armpits during the day.

I wanted to persist and give my body chance to readjust. After about three weeks it became less and after four weeks I was back to normal.

Don’t be put off by the transition period. It won’t last forever and remember, it happens because you prevented your body from sweating, which is a natural bodily function.

I’m now happy that the Wild deodorant does a great job at keeping me fresh all day.

Ease Of Use

Once you get your head around changing the refill, the Wild deodorant is easy to use.

Now let’s move on to the next part of my Wild deodorant review: ease of use. If, like me, you are switching away from a spray deodorant, you might wonder if a stick deodorant is a very different proposition.

You might even wonder if you end up with a thick, sticky layer of deodorant. No you won’t. The top of the Wild deodorant stick melts when it comes in contact with your warm skin.

It glides easily, even if you have some stubbles because you haven’t shaved your armpits for a few days. And it leaves your skin feeling dry and soft and not sticky at all.

You don’t need to apply much pressure either, which means you don’t have to use much deodorant at all, which is a bonus.

And when the stick has worn down too much to use, you just turn the handle on the bottom of your case to the right one full turn, and you are good to go again.

OK, it’s a bit more faff than a spray, but you quickly get used to it and it’s so much better for you and the environment.

One thing you have to get your head around though is how to change the refills. I had to watch the video Wild made to figure it out. But once you know what you are doing, it’s very simple.

All you have to do is twist the base of the case to the left until it won’t move any more. Then press in the two side buttons at the same time and pull out the base.

Now you have three parts: the lid, the body and the base. The refill goes onto the base still in its own case with the deodorant stick facing upwards.

Put the base back into the case by pressing in the side buttons again. Now twist the base right until the deodorant stick is slightly over the case.

And that’s it. You are ready to go! One thing that I found was tricky was figuring out how I could use the last bit of the deodorant stick. I don’t want to waste any of it after all.

The problem is that when the case has moved up fully, there is still some deodorant left, which you can’t access. The first time I took it out and tried to use it with my fingers. That was a mess, I can tell you.

So I put my problem-solving hat on and thought about it. What I came up with worked well. I carefully took out the remaining deodorant and stuck it on top of the new one. That way I could use it all up.

I later realised that others are doing the same and that Wild is about to release a new design of their refill to combat this issue. I’m still proud I came up with a solution though.

Staining

a purple wild deodorant on a striped jumper
The Wild deodorant doesn’t cause any stains on my clothes.

Another topic I wanted to discuss in my Wild deodorant review is staining. There are two types of stains that a deodorant can leave:

  • White stains on the sides of a top after you put it on – these are quite annoying and need wiping away with water
  • Yellow stains on the armpits, especially on white garments – these are very difficult to get rid of

I got both with my old deodorant. The white stains were especially annoying. The yellow stains take some time to appear but once they are there, the garment is pretty much ruined.

The great news is that with the Wild deodorant you won’t get either. Because you only apply a thin layer of deodorant, which will be absorbed by the skin quickly, there won’t be any white stains.

I have put on tops, t-shirts and dresses in all sorts of colours after putting on my Wild deodorant and never had any white stains. Even with black garments there wasn’t even a hint of a stain. Fabulous!

Unless you use too much, then you might get white stains. I did it once and then I did get stains. But if you use it sparingly, you won’t get any annoying white streaks on your clothes.

The yellow stains occur when you use an antiperspirant that contains aluminium. It reacts with the salt in your sweat, which then causes the yellow stains.

Because the Wild deodorant doesn’t contain aluminium, there won’t be any yellow stains. As simple as that!

Longevity

wild deodorant stick and three refills on carpet
I find that one Wild deodorant refill lasts for about 4 months.

There are two types of longevity I want to talk about in this Wild deodorant review: how long the deodorant lasts and how long you stay fresh.

Let’s start with the questions of freshness. You have probably seen adverts for deodorants that claim that they keep you fresh for 48 or even 72 hours. Well, I’m afraid I can’t tell you if the Wild deodorant lasts that long, because I don’t go without a shower for that long.

But what I can tell you is that it keeps you fresh for 24 hours, which is the longest I go without a shower. I put my deodorant on in the morning and in the evening I still feel fresh, and my armpits are dry, even if I have vacuumed the whole house.

When I exercise, I do sweat a lot and while I can still smell the deodorant slightly, I can also smell sweat. But that’s OK, because the least I will do when I finish my workout will be having a wash if not a shower.

Now let’s tackle the question of how long does a Wild deodorant refill last? As I have already said, you don’t need to use much at all. I normally do two swipes per armpit, which is ample.

Of course, how long it will last will depend on how much you use. I use it once to two times a day, depending on when I work out. So for me, one refill lasts between 3 and 4 months. Probably closer to four, I would say.

My spray antiperspirant only lasted me around two weeks. So the Wild deodorant lasts me a whopping 8 times longer!

But is that value for money? Let’s find out.

Value For Money

a pink piggy bank next to a stack of coins

We all want value for money, right? For me that means that I don’t have to pay the earth and that what I get for it is what I want.

So let’s look at costs first. In my experience, you will save money by switching to a Wild deodorant. The antiperspirant I used to buy cost around £1. One Wild refill costs £6. In the time it takes me to finish one refill, I have to buy eight of my old deodorant, which would cost £8. [Prices are correct at the time of writing]

So already I have saved money. But if you buy more than one refill at the time, or subscribe to their subscription service, the refills will cost less. This means you will be saving even more money.

If you are currently buying a deodorant that costs more than £1, you will again save more money. And that’s just the money aspect.

You will get a zero-waste, natural deodorant that is better for you and the planet. If that’s not value for money, I don’t know what is.

Customer Reviews

In my Wild deodorant review I share with you my personal experience with this product. But I like to also look at what other customers think. This way you get the whole picture.

Wild has a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 on Trustpilot from over 65,000 reviews. The vast majority is happy with their product, like me.

90% of customers have rated their products ‘Great’ or ‘Excellent’. Apart from the performance and the scents, many also like the sustainability aspect.

Only 6% found it necessary to give a 1- or 2-star review. Many of those are about delivery issues and deodorant refills arriving melted or mushy.

There are negative reviews saying that it didn’t work for them. In some cases, it just didn’t. But then not every product works for everyone. In some cases, I think people were experiencing a transition period but didn’t like it and didn’t want to persevere.

What I really liked was that Wild took the time to reply to 99% of negative reviews, offering to help and resolve the problem. That’s important for me, because it shows they care and want their product to work for as many people possible.

Negative reviews happen; what’s important is how the company reacts to them.

Been using Wild for more than a year now and I rate them 5 stars on all levels. The deodorants smell amazing – all of them! And they’re the only ones that seem to really work and keep me from smelling bad when I sweat. Also, incredible customer care – super responsive, super thoughtful. An amazing brand to which I’m definitely loyal.

5-Star Review on Trustpilot

I was really sceptical about trying natural deodorant as I exercise a lot and do long, sweaty shifts on a busy hospital ward… I can honestly say this is the best deodorant I’ve ever tried, keeps me smelling fresh and feeling dry and clean all day. I’ve literally been recommending it to all my friends and family!

Conclusion

You have reached the end of my extensive Wild deodorant review, but what’s the verdict? As you might have guessed, I love my Wild deodorant.

Since the transition period has passed, the deodorant does a great job at keeping my armpits dry and smell lovely all day. It took me about four weeks to get there, but it was worth it.

I love that the deodorant only contains natural, vegan and cruelty-free ingredients and there is no waste. It allows me to have a more sustainable personal care routine.

And if that wouldn’t be enough, I also save money by switching to a Wild deodorant. That’s just the icing on the cake.

So if you are looking for a natural and sustainable deodorant, look no further. Wild has got you covered. Why not give them a go now.
